While you’re in the U.S. you must remember the world-renowned landmarks and cities you cannot miss! The best part is that domestic flights can be very affordable and many of these places are budget-friendly options for visitors!
Wherever you are currently located, you can surely find a place from this list that’s close to you to visit for a few days during the summer break – whether you travel by car, bus, or plane. A big plus during the summer months is that the weather is very pleasant and daylight lasts longer, which gives you plenty of time for activities in a day.
The Grand Canyon, AZ. One of the most visited national parks in the U.S. has breathtaking views and is a world-class landmark. The entry permit is affordable and while summer is high season, this is a good chance to take part in group activities and meet other visitors on the hiking trails or camping grounds if that’s something that you’d like. Additionally, the summertime allows for the park to be open for extended hours.
Washington, DC. The National Mall has incredible memorials, monuments, and a number of world-class museums that are free for everyone. It goes from the U.S. Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial, with amazing landscapes in between. Here, you can enjoy learning about the history of the United States and reflect on the impact historical events have had on the country.
Los Angeles, CA. While this city is famous for being home to the most glamorous people and places, there are plenty of affordable options for traveling students. You can enjoy a day at the beach, explore the Hollywood walk of fame, or take a hike to the Hollywood sign (a must-see) With plenty of international food options and museums, there are too many things to do!
Nashville, TN. With a thriving music scene, Nashville is also known as Music City and has a charming mix of great food, history, and culture, Nashville is a vibrant city and perfect for those who enjoy music, with museums, concert halls, and attractions that honor true iconic American musicians. Fun fact: there’s also a full-scale replica of the Parthenon right in the heart of Nashville.
San Antonio, TX. This city has a rich colonial heritage, including the Spanish colonial missions, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. One of the cheapest places to visit in the United States, it has a unique and world-famous food scene, plenty of history, and exciting outdoor activities available.
Chicago, IL. The third-largest city in the United States, Chicago is home to some of the most groundbreaking architectural designs, many theaters and music venues, and over 50 museums! This has always been an innovative city that has excellent food options to offer, as well as a five-day-long food festival that is hosted in July and features local art and music!
