Griffin Wagoner and Semoni Weaver were crowned Mr. and Miss Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Homecoming game.
With platforms based on foster care and domestic violence awareness, the Homecoming royalty winners are excited to start making changes to the Marshall community.
“What’s next is getting action started in my platform,” Weaver explained. “So, meeting with the correct people and just applying my platform into Marshall and the Huntington community.”
As the new Mr. Marshall, Wagoner has vowed to “work hard and put together [his] platform.”

“Starting October 1st, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’ll be hosting a community and campus-wide item-of-need drive for the survivors in Branches Domestic Violence Shelter here in Huntington,” Wagoner said.
His plan is for the community to put together welcome home baskets to donate to the shelter.
Wagoner is sponsored by his fraternity, Alpha Sigma Phi, and the Criminal Justice Association, and Weaver is sponsored by the Residence Hall Association.
The Homecoming court was introduced by Student Body President Walker Tatum and Director of Alumni Relations Matt James.
Miss Marshall 2022, Nevaeh Harmon, announced the winners over a pre-recorded video, and Mr. Marshall 2022, Calvin Hunter, was in attendance to crown Wagoner.
Harmon was unable to attend the game because she was competing in the 2023 Miss USA pageant in Nevada the day prior.
“It feels amazing,” Weaver said about her win. “I’m so glad to be able to represent so much at Marshall University and be a small representation for everything that I’m a part of.”
The excitement was mutual for the winners.
“It’s a feeling like no other,” Wagoner said. “I’m just truthfully in awe and honor and grateful for this experience and for Marshall and my community for believing in me.”
